Why Do People Choose Sun Lakes?
Sun Lakes, located in south Chandler, AZ is a very popular Active Adult community. Many people choose to live in Sun Lakes as a part-time resident, or “Snowbird”, coming to Arizona to escape the harsh winters of their home states choosing instead to play golf and bask in the sun. Others choose to retire permanently here and enjoy the pools, tennis facilities and clubhouses year-round.
What is Sun Lakes Like?
Sun Lakes is comprised of five different communities, the first was constructed beginning in 1973 and the newest was built- ut in 2006, so obviously, there are differences between the communities. The first three communities to be built were Sun Lakes Country Club, Cottonwood, and the community of Palo Verde. The newest communities, Ironwood and Oakwood are both gated communities.
There are over 6,000 residences located in Sun Lakes. They range from modest manufactured homes to homes with over 3,000+ square feet. Some of the homes sit on the golf course affording the owners beautiful views – but every Sun Lakes resident can enjoy looking at the lovely views as they drive through the community.
Each community within Sun Lakes has its own golf course, ranging from 9 hole courses to a 27 hole course! Each community also has its own clubhouse, tennis courts and heated pools and spas. Other amenities are health clubs, arts and crafts centers, stocked fishing lakes and many miles of walking trails. On top of the many amenities in the communities there are hundreds of clubs for residents to join – you can expect to stay active if you live in Sun Lakes!
What is going on Near Sun Lakes?
Sun Lakes is located just 20 minutes from downtown Phoenix. Sun Lakes has easy access to the I-10, the 101 and the 202 so getting anywhere in the valley is easily accomplished. The Chandler Fashion Center is minutes away and Sun Lakes is located close to a community college, a public library, and a large variety of restaurants, spas, salons, boutiques and grocers.
